Angélica Zapata Malbec Alta 2008

Tasting Notes

View: In the glass it showed a beautiful ruby red deep color, middle layer. Despite his six years old it still looks young. Long Legs, big, firm... glyceric, impressive!

Nose: With only look it over the glass already be sensed it was a wine that we would like. It spread scents everywhere. Especially fruit red young and fresh, well balanced by smoked notes and chocolate of good oak. Aromas that relax, like a tale narrated by a purring voice and mellow. This wine showed these aromas that predict a very good night. Very complexity. Floral, spicy, black plums, some of jam, mineral notes... a little bit of everything.

Palate: it was tasty, with much volume. Behaved as a silk, it caresses the palate in its path and its silky touch you crumbling. The sweet notes were perfectly balanced with that vibrant acidity that makes you salivate. Long and unforgettable aftertaste.

In conclusion

In this red wine there is elegance and power at the same time, freshness and vivacity. A complete wine that shows perfectly all the best that can offer the Malbec in their different terroirs masterfully assembled.

More about this wine
Angélica Zapata Malbec Alta 2008 is a blend of Malbec grapes sourced from different vineyards. The result is a wine of great concentration and elegance. The “Angélica” vineyard offers ripe plum jammy flavors with a soft, supple mouthfeel. “La Pirámide” lends intense black berry fruit with spicy black pepper and clove. “Altamira” provides elegance and freshness on the palate with a flavor profile of red berry fruit. Lot 3 from “Adrianna” is intensely floral, with hints of violets and lavender, while lot 9 provides a deeply violet color and a long persistent finish of cassis flavors and mineral notes. These five elements contribute to wonderful complexity in the final blend.

MONTESCO PARRAL 2010

Tasting Notes

In the glass this wine showed a deep red color with violet hues. In nose was explosive, scattering everywhere complex aromas like fruit (a lot of small red and black fruits), herbal (mentholated, sod), minerals notes (graphite, chalk, stone), spices, coffee and bitter chocolate.

On the palate this wine was honest, and always with fruit in front. It showed a medium body and intense entry. It was extremely fresh, with stylish minerality integrated perfectly with oak wood. Delicious aftertaste of medium-long finish.

In conclusion, this wine was tasty, straight, vertical easy to drink and highly addictive.

This wine scored 94 points by Robert Parker (Wine Advocate). Who recommended drinking until 2016. We never scored a wine, and do not know if this score was much or little, but we consider that this blend is a great wine and  now is having an excellent moment.

The Apple Doesn´t Fall Far From theTree MALBEC 2010

Tasting Notes
In the glass this wine was deep violet-ruby, with dark center, almost black. Clean and brilliant. Suggestive and very pigmented legs fall down slowly. Showed good concentration, without being too much (15% of drain).

High volume of aromas of mature plums, blackberry and some white pepper. Highlighted the fresh notes (they make you run a chill by the body). And the end, notes of chocolate, coffee toasted and flowers like violet. Everything perfectly assembled… A great nose!

Intense and sharp attack. Well balanced, the sweetness of the mature fruit and an excellent acidity coexist in harmony… Sweet and rounded tannins. On the palate was oily, enveloping, and agile despite its structure. Exquisite aftertaste to black plums and cherries.

Summary
We believe that we´re in front of a huge Argentine red wine, elaborated by Matías Riccitelli. Is a pure Malbec from 15-year-old vines, aged 100% in used French oak for 12 months. The suggested price goes up to around the Uss 25 and the quality/price ratio is Very Good or more.
